Many websites across the web today have either gone dark or modified their appearance to demonstrate their displeasure with a couple of bills being debated by Congress: SOPA and PIPA. These two pieces of legislation are written in such a way that they could have massive and deletrious consequences on freedom of speech, internet business and the fundamental functioning of the web. To participate in this protest, please contact your representatives today. To learn more about this protest, the Electronic Frontier Foundation has a succinctly written article on the matter. Stand up for freedom!

Google has setup an easy method for donating to the Japanese relief effort (via the Japanese Red Cross Society). You must donate in yen, so remember: 1600 yen equals .54 at last trading. http://gobb.us/EYw

I wrote an article for the Littera Report about the devolving situation in Libya, entitled "Libya Situation Worsens, Future Unknown." As always I welcome any feedback that you may have. The situation in Libya has evidently devolved rapidly overnight and into today, with battles raging overnight in several cities neighboring Tripoli, Muammar Gaddafi's primary stronghold. Those in support of the embattled dictator seem unmoved by the cries of the opposition movement, with some unconfirmed reports ...

In my quest to waste time, I have created a URL shortening service. Only I can use it right now, but I'll think about opening it up soon.

Welcome to the new Bryan' Brain! It is still in development and, to be entirely honest with you, was thrown together using mostly duct tape and bits of string. But I'm shoring up the beams and preparing the site for real, genuine use! But being batman, I find it important to let everyone watch me construct, so I decided to just let the site go live and hope for the best! I'm confident this is capable of, at most, impacting 10 people's lives in very minor ways...

I have soft-launched a new internet service called Littera Report (currently in beta) that intends to reinvigorate the news media. Anyone can write free from censorship or content moderation, everyone is involved, and the community will build the news it feels is most relevant and genuine for their region. The power of democracy and social networking with hyper-locality come to journalism! A Gallop poll administered in late 2010 showed that a whopping 57% of Americans no longer trust the news media to...

A common problem amongst those with moderate and libertarian belief systems that they strictly adhere to is, I find, that they tend not to want to ruffle too many feathers. While they may disagree with what you say, possibly even vehemently so, they respect your right to hold that belief and just want to leave you alone...

Today I received my first review for my first novel, a 4-start positive review from BookPleasures, written by Hamdhoon Rashad. An excerpt of the review is below: Told over a span of five days, A Line Blurred narrates a succinctly-written, moving account of the dire consequences in its wake plunging one family into emotional doom...

The video below is from a 60 minutes interview with one of the survivors of the Deepwater Horizon explosion that killed 11 people and caused one of the largest ecological disasters in the history of the United States. I will reserve any specific commentary I may have regarding BP or the oil industry in general...

Welcome, one and all! This is my brand-new, shiny website, appropriately called "Bryan's Brain," because all that is to be here is likely to come from somewhere within my mind. I plan to write about nearly anything I find interesting or fascinating, which is often...
